Duke offers a Master's degree or Post-Master's certificate in Nursing Informatics.
And a new Doctorate of Nursing Practice
(DNP) degree will begin in 2008 with a heavy informatics emphasis. The DNP degree is a more
clinically focused doctorate, while the more traditional PhD emphasizes research.
Our rigorous Duke online program has a reputation of excellence and is built
on a philosophy that expert nurses, with solid clinical experience, are best
able to analyze, design/develop, implement, and evaluate information systems
that could improve both nursing practice and patient care. We offer a leading
edge and rigorous curriculum that combines online (web-based) classes, virtual
project teamwork, and usually 3 days on Duke's beautiful campus in Durham,
North Carolina (USA) most semesters.
Duke's program permits busy nurses to complete specialized informatics
education from anywhere in the world, amidst their demanding personal and
professional lives.
