Duke's Nursing Informatics program began with a Post-Master's
Certificate program in 1997, and expanded to include an MSN
program that began in 2002. A Doctorate of Nursing Practice
(DNP) degree will begin in 2008 with a heavy informatics emphasis. The DNP degree is a more
clinically focused doctorate, while the more traditional PhD emphasizes research.
We actively recruit a diverse group of students for every new
class. Each class typically includes men and minorities that enrich our learning
experiences. Our niche provides advanced preparation
for nurses already working in informatics positions, although
we have also had success in preparing highly motivated and
tech-savvy expert nurses who are new to informatics.
Details about the Duke program are provided with the links
on this page.
